OUR STORY and the people behind it

– Our journey began 2013

That’s when we opened our first restaurant in Jönköping, Anne’s Husman AB.

At the time, Anne had worked for ten years as a head chef but felt it was time to stand on her own.
David, who had previously run businesses in other industries, is a trained sommelier with a lifelong passion for food and fine drinks. Together, they found common ground and embarked on a gastronomic journey.

 

From a small family business to a growing enterprise

 

Well-prepared lunches in general – and traditional Swedish home-cooked meals in particular – have always been close to their hearts. They also turned their ideas about ingredients into reality: all food is made with 100% Swedish meat, which quickly proved to be a recipe for success.

 

Today, we run three restaurants

 

When Vesterbrunn Brasserie & Bar opened its doors in 2021, the idea of an evening restaurant serving dishes made exclusively with local ingredients had taken root with Anne and David.

Together with our team, they shaped a unique concept that lives and evolves every day — the very essence of Vesterbrunn!

David and Anne pick, grow, and refine many of the ingredients that make Vesterbrunn truly unique.

Today, our restaurants employ more than 20 people, and within our small group, we can offer almost everything in the restaurant world — from coffee and breakfast to lunch, tasting menus, and wine tastings.

VESTERBRUNN - A NAME WITH HISTORY

The name Vesterbrunn is not new. It has existed in the area around Southern Munksjön for several hundred years. As early as the 18th century, the healing properties of the water were discovered. A natural health spring was found, and locals from Jönköping would come here to “drink the spring,” as they called it back then.

Now, several hundred years later, we are bringing the name Vesterbrunn back to life. The spring itself is gone, and the water may not be quite as healing anymore. But the idea of a lively gathering place is more relevant than ever.

The location was known not only for its restorative qualities but also as a natural meeting place where people came together, talked, and enjoyed life.

Our restaurant is located on the southern part of Munksjön, along the beautiful walking path. The address is Skeppsbrogatan 2. We are on the ground floor in the same building as the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket) and the Swedish Forest Agency (Skogsstyrelsen).

It’s easy to reach us by public transport. Several bus lines stop right outside at the Kämpevägen stop.

For those arriving by car, there is a parking garage just around the corner. This means you’re always close, no matter how you travel.
